AI Developer Needed – Custom ChatGPT Agent for Construction Plan Review & Scope Extraction
We are a General Contracting company that specializes in affordable housing remodels (50–300 unit projects). We are looking for a developer or AI engineer to create a custom ChatGPT-powered solution that our team can use to upload construction plans and automatically generate detailed project insights.
The tool should allow us to drop in a set of plans and have the AI review them, then output:
- Scope of Work Extraction: Identify and summarize the scope of work, broken down by trade.
- Narrative Project Summary: Provide a written project summary organized by trades.
- Conflict Detection: Flag conflicts between different plan sets.
- Coordination Needs: Identify where trades must coordinate with one another.
- Unclear Items / RFIs: Call out areas that need clarification and would require an RFI to the architect.
- Mobility & Accessibility: Specifically highlight
accessibility/mobility-related scope items and issues.
- Page References: List the exact plan sheet/page number for each scope item found.
- External Context: Pull in relevant local costs for trades and local building/safety codes we should be aware of.
We are open to either:
A custom ChatGPT agent/chatbot that can be shared internally across our team, or
A custom-built AI application with more flexibility (preferred if feasible).
The solution must ensure data separation so that one upload does not mix into another project’s data.
Preferred Technologies:
LangChain or LlamaIndex for orchestration and document querying
Vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, Milvus) for storing/embedding large plan sets
Azure OpenAI, OpenAI API, or Anthropic Claude for LLM access
PDF/CAD parsing tools (Camelot, pdfplumber, Autodesk integrations, etc.)
Cloud infrastructure: AWS, Azure, or GCP (depending on approach)
(Bonus) Experience integrating with Procore, Smartsheet, or Microsoft 365
Ideal Candidate Background:
AI Engineer, Data Scientist, or Machine Learning Developer with experience in document analysis
Prior work in AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) tech, or similar industries
Comfortable building shareable custom chatbots or secure internal AI tools
