About This Position

Edmond is seeking a City Manager to be responsible for implementing policies set by the City Council; preparing and submitting a balanced financial plan; overseeing the daily operations of city departments; ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; and facilitating communication between the City Council, city staff, and the public. The City Manager plays a crucial role in strategic planning and community engagement, and takes a lead role in addressing community concerns, fostering a collaborative environment among city staff, and ensuring that the city's operations align with its long-term goals, strategic vision, objectives, and continuous growth and success. Reporting directly to the City Council, the City Manager manages a fiscal year 2025 budget of $454 million.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, political science, or a closely related field
    • Master's in public administration is preferred
  • 10 years of closely related experience
  • 5 years of leadership experience (department director, assistant city manager, etc.) (preferred)
  • International City/County Management Association (ICMA) credentials (preferred)
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

Responsibilities

  • Provide centralized direction and leadership for the administration, operation, and service delivery of municipal services
  • Prepare and submit a balanced financial plan
  • Oversee the daily operations of city departments
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Facilitate communication between the City Council, city staff, and the public
  • Address community concerns
  • Partner with community organizations (UCO, Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport, Chamber of Commerce, etc.)
  • Advise City Council with objective analysis and recommendations
  • Navigate political dynamics as they arise
  • Set department goals and recruit, hire, and supervise staff within the department
  • Implement innovative solutions and policies to continuously improve municipal services and infrastructure
  • Ensure city operations align with long-term goals, strategic vision, objectives, continuous growth, and success
