About the position
Responsibilities
- Drive PayPal's leadership in small business empowerment and inclusive economic growth through strategic social and environmental initiatives.
- Empower the team to deliver against PayPal's impact strategy.
- Oversee enterprise-wide Charitable Contributions Policy and all charitable giving from the company and develop grant activations/announcement strategies for priority initiatives.
- Develop community impact programming to help address systemic barriers to growth aligned to our business strategy.
- Modernize data collection and analytics capabilities to enhance reporting and allow us to better measure the impact of our giving.
- Oversee and execute disaster relief playbook as needed.
- Oversee governance structure for management of social and environmental risks and opportunities, including related enterprise-wide policies and public commitments.
- Oversee corporate sustainability reporting, including global regulatory requirements, annual publication of the Global Impact Report, and impact storytelling throughout the year.
- Oversee relationships with PayPal strategic partnerships, including World Economic Forum, the Aspen Institute, Global Citizen, and more.
- Represent PayPal in global external forums, media engagements, and industry collaborations to advance corporate social impact and sustainability leadership.
- Drive execution against our climate goals and commitments.
- Guide integration of sustainability and social impact priorities into core business operations, product strategy, rapid response, employee engagement, and customer engagement.
- Oversee measurement and reporting of impact initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Oversee end-to-end team operations and budgets to ensure delivery against social impact and sustainability annual goals.
- Serve as a senior advisor to executive leadership on emerging sustainability and impact trends, rapid response crisis management, risks, and opportunities.
- Foster an inclusive and high-performing team culture, ensuring team members feel empowered and supported in their professional growth.
- Lead by demonstrating strong listening and adaptability skills to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics and inspire cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- 15+ year's experience in Social Impact and Sustainability progressing with responsibility and leadership.
- Experience overseeing large philanthropy projects and grant portfolios and familiarity with donor-advised funds.
- Deep relationships with major non-profit organizations and leaders is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling global employee engagement programs, including but not limited to employee volunteerism, skills-based pro bono, and employee resource groups.
- Familiarity with ESG/corporate sustainability regulatory landscape in the U.S. and internationally.
- Expertise in climate risk management, sustainable finance, and net zero strategy development.
- Knowledge of ESG/corporate sustainability standards, frameworks, and ratings including GHG Protocol, CDP, SASB/ISSB, GRI, DJSI.
- Demonstrated success in securing executive buy-in for corporate responsibility strategies and integrating impact into core business priorities.
- Experience leading through influence across a highly matrixed and fast-paced environment.
- Passion for small business empowerment and track record of working with small businesses and entrepreneurs in the US and/or globally is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record managing and developing high-performing, diverse teams in a global Fortune 500 corporate environment.
- Strong executive presence with leaders and employee communities across multiple geographies and cultures globally.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence, with the ability to build trust, foster meaningful relationships, and navigate ambiguity with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong change management skills, with the ability to guide teams through evolving corporate priorities and external challenges while maintaining engagement, motivation, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with policymakers, investors, employees, customers, and non-profit organizations.
- Passion for PayPal's mission, strong understanding of our products and services and the role PayPal occupies in the ecosystem.
- Experience working in technology or financial services is preferred.
- Experience working as a corporate affairs leader within a global organization.
- Ability to help team synthesize complex sustainability and social impact issues into compelling narratives for internal and external audiences.
